Sale 001
Conditions of Inquiry
I. Nature of this catalog
This catalog presents works held by Jacob Shochat Art Collection, a private gallery in Mahwah, New Jersey, and offered for private acquisition. It is not an auction catalog. There is no public sale, no buyer's premium, and no hammer; pricing is provided in confidence to qualified inquirers.
II. Viewing
Works are available for viewing by appointment at the gallery's premises in Mahwah. Inquirers based outside the New York metropolitan area are also welcome to request high-resolution photographs and a written condition report in lieu of an in-person viewing.
III. Condition reports
A written condition report describing the surface, support, varnish, and any restoration history is available for every work in this catalog on written request. Reports are prepared by the gallery and supplemented with conservator opinion where appropriate.
IV. Provenance, literature, and exhibitions
Provenance, literature, and exhibition history are documented in the gallery's records. Where this information is available it is provided in confidence to qualified inquirers, with appropriate documentation. Where it is not available, the gallery says so plainly rather than reconstructing it.
V. Authenticity
Each work is offered as believed to be authentic on the basis of the gallery's research, supported by the available documentation. The gallery is glad to facilitate independent expert review at the inquirer's expense, and to share its own records with any conservator, scholar, or auction-house specialist nominated by the inquirer.
VI. Pricing and confidentiality
All prices are quoted on a private and confidential basis to inquirers and their advisors, and are exclusive of applicable sales tax, shipping, and any third-party fees agreed in writing. Quotes are valid for 14 days from issue unless otherwise specified.
VII. Sales process
On agreement of price, the gallery issues a written invoice. Title and risk pass on cleared payment. The gallery cooperates with shipping agents, framers, conservators, and customs brokers nominated by the buyer.
VIII. Right to decline
The gallery reserves the right to decline an inquiry without explanation, and to withdraw any work from sale at any time prior to acceptance of payment.
IX. Inquiries
Inquiries are answered personally by the curator. Write to jacob.shochat@yahoo.com or telephone (267) 566-8855.
